I’m Perle, and I’m embarking on a two-week inter-railing journey from Amsterdam → Berlin → Vilnius → Latvia → 🛳️ → Germany → Amsterdam.

As a single solopreneur and co-parent, I’m seizing this opportunity while my daughter is on holiday with her dad, to explore whether I can balance work and travel on the go. This space will be where I share the highs, the lows, and everything in between from my experience.

Travel Tips…

  1. Night train → Pack your backpack with everything you need for the night. For extra ease separate your things in smaller bags to limit rooting around for smaller items.
  2. Tell people about your trip before you travel and share the bits you haven’t figured out yet → I hadn’t figured out how to get back from Latvia. The missing piece a boat from Latvia to Germany came from a stranger I met at a friends birthday party.
  3. A fully booked train doesn’t mean you can’t get on. Simply sweet talk the train manager and you are good to go.
  4. Wifi on trains is a bonus → never a given. You will be using your hotspot 80% of the time. With patchy network. Plan your work accordingly.
  5. Find yourself a light pair of loose fitting travel dungarees → you will be eternally happy.
  6. The further you get into the Balkans to more infrequent trains become. So prepare to take buses. The great thing is you can reserve a delux bus and first class seats from Vilnius to Riga for the huge investment of 23 euros.
